Halifax is our oldest serval. He was surrendered by an owner who loved him very much and was committed to giving him a lifetime home.
After surviving breast cancer, his owner had to move near her daughter in another city that outlawed exotic pets. There are so many reasons exotic cats shouldn’t be considered pets. Whether it’s their wild tendencies, life circumstances changing, new zoning laws, inability to get insurance…..we’ve heard so many reasons why these “pets” have to be surrendered.
Halifax’s owner wanted to ensure that she did not put his life in danger. So she called our sanctuary to see if we could take him in.
Halifax has really warmed up to the staff, but has plenty of wild cat friends. He enjoys his life here, sharing a large outdoor habitat and heated building with other servals. We’re happy he can spend the rest of his days with others of his own kind.
