Cedar - bobcat

Cedar

Appropriately enough, the 4 year old bobcat rescued from an Idaho homeowner in May, 2009, under deplorable conditions was named Cedar after the veterinary clinic that treated the bobcat pro bono. Cedar Pet Clinic's Dr. John W Baillie, DVM, Medical Director, has generously provided The Wildcat Sanctuary with donated vet care for the past 7 years.

Unbelievably deplorable conditions that the bobcat was forced to live inCedar was flown to Minnesota after being rescued from a trash-laden pen under a woman's patio. His wire cage was filled with garbage, feces and rotting chicken. The woman was hospitalized for unknown health reasons and could no longer provide for the bobcat and two wolves she still maintained on the property. In previous years the woman had upwards of 30 plus wolves and was identified by local authorities as a "horder". The wolves were rescued by Wolf Haven International in Washington State.

The exam performed at Cedar Pet Clinic - Lake Elmos determined he is a neutered 4 year old male that was declawed on all four feet. He had two rotting teeth that needed treatment and was overweight after being fed an improper diet of cat canned food and yogurt.

Media coverage of the vet exam:

Cedar Pet Clinic received over 80 entries in a naming contest they held and chose the submitted name "Cedar" in honor of all the work the clinic donates to TWS.

Cedar is settling in quite well at TWS. He enjoys his fire hose hammock and grassy enclosure where he lives with lynx Shay, Kajeeka and George.
